STOP WORK AUTHORITY

The Stop Work Authority (SWA) is a program designed to empower employees and contract workers with the responsibility, authority, and obligation to honorably stop work when a perceived unsafe condition or behavior may result in an unwanted event. To build and reinforce a culture in which SWA and a questioning attitude are freely exercised and accepted, line supervisors are encouraged to positively recognize employee and contractor participation in the program.
